This week's People Management Superhero is Jackie Porter, Payroll Manager at Newcap Radio.
About Jackie
Jackie has been with Newcap since 1988. Back then she was hired to implement a payroll solution that would manage approximately 60 people. Today, Newcap has 1,000+ employees across Canada and Jackie single handedly manages the payroll and benefits for all these employees. This includes full time salaried, commissioned, and part time plus a corporate payroll-- all without using an Outsourcer, and all thanks to Avanti.
Q: What makes you a People Management Superhero?
Managing over 1,000 employees, and still having time for each and every one that reaches out to me. I am still a one-person department thanks to Avanti!
Q: How does Avanti help you take care of your employees?
Avanti is so effective and diverse. From payroll to all of our group benefits including insurance, pension plans and company stock purchase plan, it has given me the time I need to ensure all of our employees are taken care of.
Reporting is easy, giving me the capability to draw information from any part of the system into an excel spreadsheet.
Q: As you look ahead to the next year, do you have any new initiatives that involve Avanti?
Sure do! With the help of the Avanti team, I will be implementing a new payroll approval process for our managers, tailored to meet our needs.
Q: What tip would you give to others who struggle with employee management?
Try Avanti. This software is a game changer for your HR requirements!
Q: How does Newcap Radio set itself apart from other employers?
Although our corporate office is small, given over 1,000 employees, we ensure we have time for our employees. This is by far my number one priority.
Q: What is at the heart of making Newcap Radio a great place to work?
Our team…our people. Radio is a challenging market and we strive to attract and keep good employees. Using Avanti has given us the advantage of keeping up with the evolving world of technology through rapid processing and the Self-Service site.
